Alison Chiu, is an Associate at FAI and oversees the firms historic consultation with industry clients, community and preservation partners. Prior to FAI, Alison spent the early years of her career working in forensic investigations of the building envelope and technical archival research. Discovering her passion for preservation brought her to Hawaii where she is a founding member and Director Emeritus of Docomomo US/Hawaii Chapter. With a natural talent for writing, Alison is the author of several published works, Preserving Hawaii’s Post War Commercial Development (2022 Update), Residential Architecture in Territorial Hawaii: Armena Louis Morse Eller and Adaptive Reuse: New Life for Old Buildings. When Alison isn’t advocating for preservation, she spends her time experiencing life with a curated lens for travel, culture, and food. She enjoys savoring decadent meals with her husband and friends.
